Description
The appellations Vatted Malt and Vatted Grain, used since the end of the 19th century disappeared on November 22, 2011 at midnight in favor of the names Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey and Blended Grain Scotch Whiskey. This decision of the Scotch Whiskey Association aims to clarify the different names regulating the production of whisky in Scotland. To celebrate the end of an era, the Compass Box company is launching two limited editions which will be the last bottles labeled with the mention of Vatted Malt and Vatted Grain.
This is The Last Vatted Malt- a combination of 36 year old Aberlour matured in a first-fill sherry butt, and a 26 year old malt from Port Askaig on Islay matured in American oak hogsheads.
One of 1,323 bottles.
