Description
Compass Box has been working on a blend of single malts that combines seemingly dissonant flavor profiles, but together creates something compelling. They landed on a recipe that elicited a surprising range of reactions and descriptions, each person taking away something different from the whisky. Rather than try to settle on whose perceptions were ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, Compass Box is inspired by the phenomenological school of thought to consider how different people experience the same phenomenon. And so, the back of the bottle has an interesting “letter” from the master distiller, stating that they won’t describe the tasting notes of the whisky, instead encouraging connoisseurs to experience it and describe it themselves.
To respect the concept, we are staying away from influencing you as well. But will say this – the whiskey drinks very smooth, mellow and rich on the palate and has a long finish leaving you wanting more. Which is a problem, because there isn’t too much to go around!
